Ginés Serrán-Pagán

Spain, 1949

World renowned contemporary artist, anthropologist, author, and humanitarian, Serrán-Pagán has created over 3800 sculptures, paintings and ceramics and he has participated in 250 solo and group exhibitions in 25 countries.

The artist’s work ranges from abstraction to expressionism to a present-day Renaissance realism and his paintings and sculptures can be found in numerous private and institutional collections as well as in many prestigious museums including the Guggenheim Museum of New York, amongst others. Serrán-Pagán is one of the few artists of our time creating monumental bronze sculptures and his 23 meters high “Emperador” in Manila, a composition of 9 sculptures, is the largest monument in the Philippines. In 2020, Serrán-Pagán completed the installation of his “Venus”, “Genesis” and “Vulcan” in Ashland, Kentucky and they currently comprise the largest group of bronze sculptures in the U.S.

Serrán-Pagán received his Masters Degree from New York University and his Ph.D. in Anthropology and Archaeology from the City University of New York. He is the recipient of countless awards and honors, including the Lorenzo de Medici Medal of Arts at the International Art Fair in Miami, the Medal of the City of Kanazawa in Japan, the Federico Garcia Lorca International Award of Poetry, and the Fuji International Art Award in Tokyo, to name just a few. Serrán-Pagán was also designated “Ambassador of the Arts” in Rome, in recognition of his significant artistic and humanitarian contributions.
