OPENING RECEPTION FOR OSCAR’S NEVER BEFORE SEEN “CHILDREN OF THE WORLD IN BRONZE”
THURSDAY JULY 6, 5–7PM
The works in this exhibition are inspired by and emanate from Molina's vivid memories of his treacherous journey through the desert at the age of 16 — he was escaping the violence of then war-torn El Salvador, hoping to find safe haven and a better life in the United States. Never before seen "Children of the World" sculptures in bronze are paired with paintings from the companion series "Raindrops" in which cleansing rain washes down upon the travelers, illuminating their dreams, strength and beauty. In the rear gallery, the exhibition continues with abstract paintings from Molina's "Children of the World" series, opening a window into Molina's dreamlike memories as part of a multitude of humanity moving in procession through the unknown into the unknown.
